Christopher Payne works predominantly with sound, light, photography, and video as experiential tools. Payne completed his original artistic training in cinema at Concordia University in 2007 before completing his MFA at the University of Ottawa in 2013. His work and performances have been presented in Alberta, Quebec, Ontario, Poland, Belgium, and Mexico.
The root of Payne's practice is found in thresholds; the tidal plains between binaries; the spaces which are neither one thing nor the other – is the window sill inside or outside? His work creates experiences and imagery that propose similar spaces where perceptions of the everyday, become something else.
